Rotary Club Maryland Celebrates Investiture of 22nd President, Rotarian Victor Anosike

LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Rotary Club of Maryland, Lagos, convened a distinguished investiture ceremony today, signifying the formal commencement of the tenure of its 22nd President, Rotarian Victor Anosike. The event, held in Ikeja, Lagos, was a momentous occasion for the Rotarian community, brimming with anticipation as they welcomed their newly elected leader.


In his inaugural address, President Anosike articulated his unwavering commitment to harness the influential Rotary platform for collaborative engagement with the government in the pursuit of societal development. Underpinning his presidency is the resonant theme, "Create Hope in the World," emblematic of his dedication to nurturing optimism and advancing progress within the local community.


President Anosike unveiled a comprehensive array of initiatives designed to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Lagos. These visionary endeavors encompass providing grants to local traders, forging strategic partnerships with government entities to establish skill acquisition centers, and championing the cause of basic education and literacy (Beli) for young children.


Additionally, President Anosike underscored the paramount significance of mental health, acknowledging it as a pressing concern confronting a substantial portion of the Nigerian populace. In a decisive pledge, he committed to prioritizing the mental health sector throughout his tenure, a testament to his holistic approach to societal development.


The investiture ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of numerous dignitaries, including the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Honorable Gboyega Akosile.


As the keynote speaker, Mr. Akosile inspired the assembly by drawing pertinent parallels between the roles of politicians and Rotarians. He emphasized their shared commitment to instilling hope and catalyzing community development in partnership with the government, drawing parallels to the campaign message of President Bola Tinubu, who championed "Renewed Hope" before his ascent to power.


In attendance were also the District Governor for the 2023-24 Rotary year, Rotarian Ifeyinwa Ejezie, and the immediate past president, Rotarian Rissy Taiwo. Taiwo expressed her unwavering confidence in President Anosike's vision and objectives, extending her heartfelt gratitude to the Club and its members for the privilege of serving.


The investiture ceremony served as a prominent platform for the unveiling of several impactful projects and the commencement of a vital fundraising campaign. The Rotary Club of Maryland has set a formidable fundraising goal of 113 million Naira, earmarked for the implementation of diverse projects under the auspices of the new administration.
