The Hidden Efficacy of Consistency

From the beginning of time itself, man has had four fundamental needs, which are: food, shelter, clothing and communication. Many might wonder, why communication? Because without some form of communication, man would not have evolved; there would've been no civilization, history would have not been passed down. These four nexuses, are all interwoven within the aegis of consistency. Man, through his continuous research, discovered that for continued survival, he required more basic necessities such as air, water, food and protection from environmental dangers. This discovery happened over time, and it was through this, that man learned what C.O.A {course of actions to take} whenever he was presented with any issues or challenges. So what is efficacy? Efficacy is the ability to produce a desired or intended result. Being consistently efficient, is another matter entirely.

Take for example, a person wants to boil a kettle of water over a gentle flame. At the initial stages, the individual in question requires keen concentration to do this simple task. Light the gas stove, put the water on the flame, and bring the water to boil. The moment the person does this the first time, an automatic learning process begins in the mind, naturally. Now, if the same person does the same act, repeatedly, he or she begins to understand the length of time taken to bring the water to boil, the amount of water to be used, etc. If this process is repeated a thousand times, at some point, a certain level of mastery is achieved. Think about it. If you skip with a skipping rope, twenty times a day, every day, for 365 days a year, at some point, skipping becomes extremely easy. If this is repeated every day, for ten years, a gradual efficacy is reached, and mastery is attained. I marvel at archers because archery is an extremely difficult activity for a beginner. Archery is the art, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin word "arcus". Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity. A person who participates in archery is typically called an archer or a bowman, and a person who is fond of or an expert at archery is sometimes called a toxophilite. To become a toxophilite, a consistent regimen must be followed, to acquire the skills needed to hit any target. Imagine it takes an archer 30 minutes to string a bow and position an arrow in the same manner every day. At some point, the archer will become adept at coupling and stringing the bow in a shorter time. If the same archer aims at a target; practices for three hours everyday for three years, the archers chances of hitting the target increases a hundredfold. The consistency of repeated practice, enables the archer to shoot at the target, even while blindfolded, and he / she still hits the bullseye. Repetition is key. This why students and pupils go to schools every day, to do the same things over and over and over. This is how humans learn to read and write: by piecing letters and words together consistently. Professionals, C.E.O's, athletes, sportsmen & women, military officers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, artists and even artisans all understand that practice makes perfection achievable. To become efficient, one must be diligent in training. Finally, understanding the efficacy of being successfully consistent, requires a healthy dose of discipline. Keep doing it, never give up, keep achieving, keep working hard, keep learning, and one day, true mastery will be achieved.
